Working with animal groups
How to create mobs or groups and manage them collectively.
Animal groups (mobs) let you manage a collection of animals as one unit — record a treatment for the whole mob, move them together between paddocks, or view their combined history.
Create a group
- 1Go to Animals
- 2Switch to the Groups tab
- 3Tap + to create a new group
- 4Enter a name and species, then add animals
Add animals to a group
On an individual animal's detail page, tap Edit and set the Group field. Alternatively, open the group and tap "Add animals" to select multiple at once.
Counting a mob by head
You don't have to enter every animal one by one. Give a mob a Counted by head number for the animals you count as a number, like a mob of 200 ewes. Animals you enter one by one are added on top, so a mob with 3 tagged rams and 200 ewes counted by head has 203 on site.
The top of the Animals page shows how your total is made up: the animals entered one by one, each mob's head counted by head (with − and + to change it), and any away on loan. When you put an animal into a mob that has head counted by head, you're asked whether it's one of them, so it isn't counted twice.
Group actions
- Move the whole group to a different paddock
- Record a treatment for every animal in the group in one step
- Log a health event or care protocol for the group
- View group-level weight history and ADG
An animal can only belong to one group at a time. If you need to split a mob, remove animals from the group and assign them to a new one.
