Recording births and litters

How to log a birth, add offspring, and link to the dam's mating record.

When a birth occurs, recording it creates a birth record linked to the dam and sire, and lets you add the offspring as new animals immediately.

Record a birth

  1. 1Go to Breeding
  2. 2Tap + Birth (or tap the due-date reminder when it fires)
  3. 3Select the dam
  4. 4Enter the birth date, type (single, twin, triplet, litter), and ease of birth
  5. 5Add the offspring — enter ear tags, sex, and birth weights
  6. 6Tap Save — the offspring are added as new animals linked to the dam

Litter records

For pigs and multi-birth species, use the Litter view (tap the birth record) to track individual piglet/lamb/kid weights over time.

Photos

You can attach photos to a birth record — useful for stud animals where marking and conformation records matter.

If a calf or lamb is born with no mating record on file, you can still create a birth record and link the sire manually.
